Photoshop Gone Bad

June 4, 2010

PhotoshopDisasters.Blogspot.com

Because I like dance and ballet, I was intrigued when I saw a thumbnail of this image on the web. Going further I found that it was posted up by the folks over at Photoshop Disasters. The image is actually being used by the Nintendo people. You would think that the people at 505 Games (the publisher) could at least hire a decent photographer to shoot a proper image, or at least get a Photoshop artist with enough talent and skill to do a proper composite. Or why not just show the actual game screenshot and dress that up a bit?

Take a look at the little girls hand. Where was that lifted from? Not implying theft, but a very poor choice on the replacement of the body part. The face is badly comped in on the little girl too. Looks like there’s a definite head swap on the adult female as well.

Photoshop Disasters can be a lot of fun, but it can also help train a novice designer’s eye. Take a look at all of those ad inserts that come in your Sunday papers. You’ll find lots of mistakes or bad work there. It doesn’t stop at the small companies and publishers either. Lots of the big ones have been caught in the act too.

Maybe Nintendo thinks that ‘Wiitards’ aren’t the kind of people to notice such flaws?
